Monday Beebots

Every Monday Miss Rapinett comes to visit 2L with her family of beebots.  Beebots are programmable robots designed just for our age.  Today we programmed the beebots to follow special courses that we designed ourselves.  We had to use a special beebot ruler that measures how far a beebot goes in one “step”.  Working with our partner, we took it in turns to design a path and then draw it on the concrete in chalk. Our partner had to program the beebot to see if it could follow the path correctly.  We love working with the beebots and know that we have to use a lot of our Maths skills and knowledge to be able to program them accurately.

Chinese New Year Parade

Today we celebrated  the Chinese New Year with a parade on the basketball courts.  We sat with our buddies around the perimeter of the courts.  The grade 2 students recited a poem and sang songs in Mandarin.  We had an unexpected visitor: a Chinese lion

!  Many people wore national costumes and other people wore red.  Every class had a chance to show off their fantastic costumes and items that they had made in class to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
